First time in 52 years
Today, my truck hit the road with power steering
That's the first time in it's 52 years of existence. I hope it drives around another 52 years with power steering. ![]() I don't know what took me so long. I should have converted it the first week I had it. |

Re: First time in 52 years
This may be a dumb question

Used Power Steering box ......................$50 New high pressure Hose PN#3975136 .... 20 Piece of 3/8" oil hose ...........................$4 Alan Grove 400L PS bracket .................$60 (ebay) Power Steering Pulley PN# 3751232 .......$29 (ebay) New Power steering pump......................$30 Gates Belt PN# 7250 ............................$8 I gallon PS Fluid ...............................$16 A hand full of bolts, nuts, washers, etc.$10ish --------->Total $230ish Took me a couple days of puttering around in the shop. I'm not very efficent, so it's hard to say how long it actually took. bolting the ps bracket to the passenger side motor mount was the trickiest part. take the drivers side bumper bracket off before you install the new box. it will have to be modified before it can go back on. seems to be working well now. I'm happy with the upgrade, now my wife can drive the truck. Last edited by Greasey Harley; 07-19-2020 at 12:33 AM. |

Re: First time in 52 years
Were you able to fix the leak?
One advantage to no power steering....1 less thing to leak! ![]()

Used some LA's Totally Awesome, and a garden hose to clean the fluid off. (Seriously, that stuff is Totally Awesome). I'm diggin' Power steering, with a big shovel. |

Re: First time in 52 years
Where did you get a $30 pump at? I have been looking at piecing it all together.

Re: First time in 52 years
You use a newer style pump and need an older flare style hose
You can remove it from the flare fitting to oring gitting vice versa |
