'68 tow hook install
Is there a page in the assembly manual that shows this?
Reason why I ask is it seems the Lower mounting area of the hook is thicker than the upper mounting area. Did Chevy have a washer in between the upper mount to compensate for this difference?

Re: '68 tow hook install
Yep, backwards. Not the proper mounting holes either. Tow hook mounting holes are in the pic below.

Re: '68 tow hook install
Never seen them mounted forwards, but I have not dealt with 67-68 trucks much. Found other threads for you http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=84811
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=218219 Regarding the washer, is not one side of the hooks flat?

Re: '68 tow hook install
I don't know if there is a 68 assembly manual. I have a copy of the 67-72 factory assembly manual that I have used for 20+ years and have never seen any information on tow hooks.

Re: '68 tow hook install
not certain about the presence of a washer, but since it's been brought up, I believe 67-68 hooks were oriented with points fwd and outboard. Not in the assembly manual, but here are pics from the 68 4WD brochure:

There is no Flat Side, the mounting areas are offset on both sides, here are some pics..

Re: '68 tow hook install
The only thing I can think of is spacer/washer. I have never looked at the earlier hooks much.

Re: '68 tow hook install
They were made that way for tbe 60 to 66 trucks, on those they were mounted sideways.
