Steering Connecting Rod

I'm am wondering about the installation of the tie rod between the pitman arm and steering arm in a 76 4 wheel drive half - ton. I'm confused about the orientation between the tie rod ends. The service manual says "Ends of adjustable tie rod must be held in correct relationship to each other after adjustment within +/- 2 degrees". The relationship of the tie rods I removed are much greater than 2 degrees, so I dont know if I'm reading the instructions correctly. Any help would be great. Thanks
