Frame identification help please

I've recently gotten a truck and am having a dickens of a time sourcing parts for it. The title and cab states it should be a 69 C10 but... it is a 4x4 with 8 lug axles. it has power front disk brakes and rear drums.

The number I found on the top of frame at steering gearbox is:

70J160536

My main concern for ol rusty at this point is finding brake lines and hoses as it is not drivable now safely. It does have a rough country 4in lift so I know the hoses will need to be longer than factory but I need a starting point.

Any help would be appreciated. thx

Angelo

Re: Frame identification help please

The best place to start is probably with your front axle, you’ll need to figure out if it’s got standard or metric calipers on it. Can you post up a few pictures of the axle? Specifically the front cover and the hubs, those are pretty easy Id points. One you figure that part out finding extend hoses isn’t a big deal.

Are the front spring mounts/core support mounts bolted or riveted to the frame? Sounds like the body of your truck got transplanted onto a 4x4 frame. That vin on the frame is just a partial vin. Going from that partial It’s a 70 Janesville frame but if it has disk brakes the front axle has been swapped.

Re: Frame identification help please

Thanks for your reply and info. I havent figured out how to post pictures here yet. First time on after registering.
I determined the front calipers I replaced are single pistons listed in the catalogs as for 71-72 trucks.
I'm thinking the front axle diff was changed also. There were 2 drive shafts in the rear bed when I got it. One was cut and extended. Once I get the brakes driveable, I'm bringing it to a driveshaft manufacturer shop about 2 miles from the house and have new one made.

I probably should have passed on the truck but I know I was its last chance for extended life. ... When I get it road worthy I'll pass it on to a younger person. I'm in middle of 2 other restorations and don't have the time or resources to do it justice now.

If I figure out how to post a picture, I'll add some, I know that helps.
