1 piece driveshaft
I got a driveshaft from an 85 free, length is nice but it hits on the bottom of crossbrace that holds center bearing, rear needs to go down about 2 inchs.has anyone cut cross brace straight down from each side of large hole?or would i be crazy to?I have an extra crossbrace.

I think you would be alright just to notch out what you need. I bought a 70 Short bed one time the guy had been driving for years with a large groove wore into it from a broken driveline or something. (Didn't seem to effect it.) That is a structural piece though, so I would think of re-enforcing it somehow. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

You can cut the bottom out of it and you won't have any problems. If you have a leaf spring truck you can get away without notching it by moving this crossmember forward. If you have a automatic using one with a 9" tailshaft will also solve the problem.
