Hey bud thanks for asking, the first one that is labeled (different) is used to stiffen up the frame to help strengthen the frame ( to help keep from a twisting movement).. I cant take credit for it , I borrowed the Idea from Art Morrison frames . the other (what are these for ) label , I have a T56 transmission which its tranny mount is way towards the rear , so if i ever have to pull the motor out with out the transmission I would need to to use something to support the tranny , most people use another jack or wooden blocks to support it to keep the tranny from hanging down and putting all that stress on the rear tranny mount. I just added those little mounts and build a brace that I can put in and take out to make it easier to help for support.... some people will say just pull the motor and tranny out as one unit which works , but its also a large mass to move around and trying not to band up against the truck causing dents and scratches.

Well I had a Major detour this past 2 weeks , after I got the cab back from the media blaster , when I got home and prepping the cab for epoxy I noticed the roof got warped during the blasting. ( yeah I was pretty ticked off!) So I had to put a new skin on. since it was off I went ahead and epoxied the inner skin.

Getting ready to send mine to blast also. I already have a big dent in the top and it’s tin canning. How had was it to replace?

That sucks out the warping, but outstanding job on the repair...Plus the peace of mind on the rust coating is assuring.

that media blaster must have been rough, you gotta try to warp the metal on our trucks
i had my whole truck sandblasted without any issues
i think he stood way back and took his time removing 4 layers of paint

its not a bad job and pretty straight froward. Mine was more difficult because the drip rails were removed, so it is quite a bit more welding. but if your keeping your drip rails then the hardest part is drilling all the spot welds out after that put it on ,alien everything , clamp it down all the way around and weld the spot welds, the aftermarket roof skin is spot on and fits great.

Thanks for the info. who did you get it from? As you can see from my build I’m still stuck on the engine. I added a 302-1 pan and now my clearance is a little tight. So back to trying to figure it out again. Great job on the roof.

got it from CPI trucks, the web site is below. I get all my sheet metal from them , they are great to deal with. as for gettin held up on the motor dont sweat it, I cant tell how many time I got held up over issues, Lol

They will even come to you , no mess beyond the project .

My neighbor had them over to do his chassis in the driveway . They put down a tarp did the job and no mess . I even had the guy do a sway bar for me . Very quick , clean and I didn't have to go across town to some other blaster .

The cab is getting the complete work over. Next week or two I will be spraying SPI epoxy to seal the body work in and then a few rounds with polyester along with MORE sanding. I took a break from sanding (my hands needed it) and worked on some dash trim (half round aluminum stock)and shaped the end to finalize it.

Hey Steve, Iam torn between clausen ALL u Need/ z chrome or slick sand/ featherfill... really want to use clausen but its just about double the price for just a little better sand-ability... at least from what others say... do you have any insight?

I have been using slick sand. It sands tough until you break through the top layer. I have not tried anything else and my one friend uses slick sand with the same results. Can't wait to get to that point of my build. Steve

its D- shaped, its about $10 for about 5 or 6 ft piece of 3/8" . I bought 2 pieces incase I messed up. see link below
