Headers that fit?

I'm looking for recommendations for headers that actually fit these trucks. I don't trust manufacturers fitment claims. I bought a truck that a PO had installed headers on & to accomplish this he had notched the frame & bent the zbar to sorta clear. When I removed them & looked up the part number on them the manufacturer says they fit. That's not my idea of fitment.
So that being said, I have a 67 with a 283 in the forward mount position & a manual transmission. I want to know what full length headers you guys have used with no fitment problems?

In my years of building vehicles,I have never found a set of headers fit without some tweaking,I have always used Headman Headers,usually fit the best,with minor tweaking

First I would like to say that your have pointed out the reason why I have stayed with stock manifolds. Your not alone. Do a search on here and most likely will find some good opinions about manufactures and model numbers.

Finding headers that fit without issue is pretty much an oxymoron. Take a close look on peoples builds.

Look at KOOKS Headers. Call and talk to Tyler Sandahi, 704-768-2288 ext:228. He is very good. mine fit great.

My first C10 was a 67. I installed some cheap headers on it, and they fit without notching. I don't remember the brand, but i think i bought them from JCWhitney in 1996. I installed Hooker headers on it a few years later and had to notch the frame. The 67 frame has less room for headers than 68-72 frames. I suspect manufacturers don't take this into account when designing headers. My 68 came from the PO with headers already installed, and no notching was required. I don't know the brand, but the tubes are smaller than my old Hooker headers.

I have had no issues with headman on my 68 k10 and no issues on my dads 72 k10 with hooker headers
Both are 4 speed trucks
I think engine placement also plays an issue as a rwd places a v8 further forword

Good point..my V8 is in the I6/4x4 V8 position further back.

Here's a photo of the factory notch on my '68. My '67 did not have these factory notches.

I used jegs brand headers. Fit well except I heated 1 tube and whacked a dent in it on passenger side. Besides that, I actually tried no less than 4 sets and none came close to fitting. It was ridiculous.

Why is there no sticky with a definitive list of known headers that fit??

Sort of like a known wheel fitment, offset, and drop thread on most forums.

Sanderson does have some that fit great. I bought the mid-length ones. Can’t remember the exact model number. I do recall them being very helpful when I called though.

My son bought a set of Hedman short headers, not sure what the short part meant other than maybe the length of the tubes coming down the side. I had to just grind a small amount of frame, I mean less than an eight of an inch, off to get them to fit. Other than that and a poorly bent brake line that needed a bit of adjustment, they fit pretty well. They sound good too. I will say the bolts to get them to tighten were a pain as you have to get them all started, then tighten each one a small amount as you go. If you tighten one or two all the way then the others hit into the pipe and won't allow you to thread them. Not a big deal, but when you are bent over and have sausage fingers it is a bit of a drag. LOL

Remember tube size plays allot into if a set slides in and bolts up, or if you need to tweak them a little.
Small tube headers that are a slide in, bolt on are not going to gain you anything over a set of 2.5" exit corvette ram horns . Other than that pinging noise of the exhaust in the header tubes and the bolts backing off &gasket leak headaches that many headers suffer from.
speedway motors sell the repop vette ram horns, iirc for 120 a set.
