'72s had the mirrors glued to the inside windshield.
Guess you know that.
If you have a 67/68 mirror bracket, you could drill 3 holes into the cab ceiling and mount it there. On 67-71 cabs that area is raised, but I'm not sure how much, or if it would even make a difference.
I had a '67 K/10 Suburban that the PO had glued a '72-style mirror onto the windshield.
Hated it.
Always drooping, and it bounced around with vibrations at speed so much, I had to grab it to stabilize it to check my six. Mounting a proper OEM mirror bracket changed that. And by luck I had a spare in my parts bin.
I had a spare mirror too. When I got a 12'' wide mirror out of a junkyard station wagon, I mounted it in my '68 Stepside. So the Sub got the Stepside's old mirror.

You would be surprised at how many 72's have the mirrors replaced with earlier brackets.

My 72 4x4 rattled the mirror off the windshield 1 too many times so I got 71 or so in the wrecking yard and installed it.....never came off again.

I changed mine to a newer electric dimming, compass, temperature and Home-link mirror. I can open the garage door and see what the temperature is and what direction I'm headed all at my finger tips! One of the top 5 mods on my 71 c-10. I put just a GM compass & temperature mirror in the Ramp truck.

Not quite the answer to your question...but the '71 mirror/bracket is an easy fix to the "glue-on" '72 set-up. I'll keep the windshield "glue-free" when I replace it!

Andy -- does your Robo-Mirror fit the bracket hardware from the windshied frame, or is it glued to the windshield like a '72? Looks like it's floating in the pix.

It uses the glue on mount from late model GM mirror.

That Robo-Mirror's got to be twice as heavy as a stock '72 Day/Nite unit. Does it have the Day/Nite angle switch?

My repop day/night '67 mirror was vibrating too much - seems the tension isn't tight enough on the day/night cam or lever, so I ordered an older style fixed version.

They are auto dimming, you don't have to touch them. They have sensors built into them. The small hole in last picture.
Oh yea I'm working on the 71 truck mirror mount and for my 64 SS Impala. I want to install one in the Impala as well.
Here is my first try, I'm on revision 2 now though but need some parts.

I put the 67 rearview in my 72 cab...like it was said, 3 holes and it's installed. I think the cabs are slightly different in this area between these years, but it mounts. looks proper, and works like it should.

How do you run the wiring for that? Do you route it straight to the back, to the dome light opening?

I ran both of mine under the windshield gasket.

Good for you. No more bouncy RVM.
Yes, the 67-71 cabs had a small raised section to mount the mirror bracket, but it's not important.
