Paint Inspection Sheet

I just picked up a 66 and found this tucked behind the gas tank.
It is a Canadian build truck with a paint code of 5005 "Ird Silver"....

Re: Paint Inspection Sheet

There would be a separate inspection sheet like that for each portion of the build (body shop, paint, trim, motor, chassis, final).

Any discrepancies would be written up or circled by an inspector in order to flag them for repair. After the item was repaired would be bought off by the repairman and inspector with a distinctive hole punch (alpha characters, symbols, hearts, moons, clovers) for tracking purposes.

As the build came together the various inspection sheets would be stapled together into an ever growing packet which followed the truck down the line. After the truck came off the line and all repairs completed it would be driven over to the shipping area where, as part of the process, the bundle of repair tickets would be disposed of.

That reminds me- the repairmen would keep a "bogus" punch in their tool box for questionable repairs. They would usually aquire them from other repairmen who left the group for any reason. Likewise they always kept their legit punch closely guarded.
