Utility bed fitment?

There’s a Reading utility bed for sale near me, and I’m considering buying it for my ‘66 C20 long bed for use in my handyman business. Anyone have experience or knowledge to pass on if this will fit without crazy modifications?

Re: Utility bed fitment?

My 66 with a utility box did not have these:
.

.
They are the bed mounting brackets.
.I'm not sure if they'd be in the way for mounting a utility box.

Lots of these trucks were bought with utility bodies, it can't be rocket science to mount them. I don't know if the details varied from one manufacturer to another, but I have a Stahl body on mine and can take pics if it helps you. I have removed some of the bolts etc in preparation for lifting the body off, but there's still enough to give you the idea. But again maybe Readings were built differently.

Re: Utility bed fitment?

If the utility bed has the wheel opening in the same location, it will probably be fairly easy to get it attached. You might have to make some brackets for it, but if you have a welder, that probably won't be too hard to do

Re: Utility bed fitment?

I’ve decided to go with a small cargo trailer instead. Thanks for your input, though.

Re: Utility bed fitment?

When I was a framing contractor I loved my service box. A place for everything and everything in its place.

I do as well. Maybe one day I'll have a c20 or c30 with a utility bed as my tow pig/ old car rescue rig
