So I'm getting ready to order a lift kit and I was almost set to go with Skyjacker. I started looking around and noticed Tuff Country and Rough Country are quite a bit less expensive. I'm looking at complete suspension lifts(no blocks). Skyjacker is close to $1800 where the others are around $1000. My question is, is the Skyjacker really that much better? All have a lifetime warranty and come with all hardware and shocks, etc. Skyjacker does include longer brake lines. Can anyone tell me which rides better, better quality, or better warranty? Also, Skyjacker is almost a month lead-time, due to a backorder on front springs...

Did a 4'' lift on my suburban by having the spring packs rebuilt and adding a leaf front and rear at the local spring shop

The Ez ride and the soft ride will likely be your best riding kit. You get what you pay for, rough country is known to be just that, rough. The sky jacker kit is nice, that’s what I would put on mine If I was buying a new kit.

Wow I priced skyjacker 2.5 softride two years ago. It was on sale but was only about 600 front and rear springs and gas shocks. Wait for the sale

I've just about ruled out Rough Country. I'm going to call Tuff Country tomorrow and get some more info. Anyone running one?

I have Skyjacker on several trucks but at $1800 I would call ALCAN spring and get a set of theirs..Have them ordered for my 72 Blazer now and are the best ride and quality anywhere.

Do they offer all the other items like u-bolts, shocks, steering arm, stabilizer bar relocate, etc. The Skyjacker kit comes with all those items. I don't mind piecing it together, just want to compare apples to apples.

I put a Skyjacker Softride on my truck about 30 years ago, beat the heck out of it muddin back then, still sits about the same height after all these years. I did replace the bushings last year.

I installed a rought country 4inch last year. Runs great and the ride isnt bad at all. It's my daily driver also. I was in the same situation as you when I was looking for lifts. There is only so much you can do with a 50 year old truck. Its gonna take more than a skyjacker to make it anywhere close to a newer truck. I take my rig fishing all summer long here in alaska, we have probably the worse roads known to man and I wouldnt change anything. The money I saved just went into more parts anyway. My 2 cents. I have used Tuff Country EZ-Ride on quite a few trucks and in my opinion they are the best off the shelf soft ride suspension for the money. Skyjacker has been around much longer and were forced to develop their own Soft-Rides to compete with Tuff Country. I buy from www.suspensionconnection.com which is actually Tuff Country marketing

I saw that site last night. They are around $1550 by the time you add shocks steering arm and stabilizer. Not bad price, I guess.

Bought my 2.5" Softrides many, many years ago from http://willardsgarage.net/ in Billings MT. Probably heard of them in an old pre-internet magazine ad.
Their website says they still deal in suspensions, but no specifics. Maybe worth contacting them?

Thanks for all the info. If I don't order shocks from the same company as I get my springs from, how do I know what length shock to buy?

I would call up the manufacturer and ask them what length of front and rear shocks

Finally decided on a lift kit. I ordered a Tuff Country E-Z Ride from Suspension Connection. The lift kit, shocks, and steering stabilizer came to $1188.00 with free shipping. Best price I found and I spent a lot of time shopping. The kit comes with a drop steering arm and brake line extensions, which Skyjacker does not. Just FYI for anyone on the fence trying to decide on which brand. Thanks for all the replies and advice.

Thanks all that contributed to this post, it is the exact question I needed answered as well (72 k20). I have been looking into the rough country and kind of ruled out the tuff country early on, but now I will look into it again. From my own experience, I just installed a set of superlift's ez ride springs (or softride, whatever they call them) on a squarebody k5 for a friend and was blown away by how nice the ride was compared to their old setup, I did not change the ride height, just swapped out crappy lift springs for the superlift ones. As far as rough country goes, I was very hesitant to use them as I rode in a few rough country lift kits around 10-15 years ago and wasnt impressed. But, a few years ago I actually installed a rough country lift in a yj jeep and could not have been happier with the ride quality. So I guess the jury is still out on them in my book.
