Unhappy What a mess!

Fire Engulfs RV Business
Firefighters Arrived To Explosions

DALLAS -- A firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion and an employee was hospitalized after a fire at Rick’s RV Service.

Fire crews battled high temperatures and faced added dangers from the contents of the warehouse. When they arrived the building was engulfed with flames and minor explosions were going on.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.

I just got off the phone with my buddy Keith (n2billet). The warehouse complex that Rick’s RV Service "was" in is also where he had a shop at. His entire shop was destroyed by heat, smoke and water. He said the two Ramblers and the Olds he just picked up in Alabama survived, but they will take a lot of work to clean up.

Everything in his office was lost including a bunch of rare and hard to locate Rambler parts. The list of things destroyed or ruined is pretty extensive. I'll post more details when I get them.....

Man that really sucks big time. I know how much of a pain it is to even get ahold of AMC/Rambler parts. Glad to hear his Ramblers and Olds survived though. Hopefully he can recover a great deal of his losses.

It appears that an idiot at the RV repair was siphoning gas from an RV to his truck with an electric pump. He used a battery charger to power the pump and sparks ignited the gas.

Just like all of us he had no insurance, and even if he did it wouldn't cover all of his collection of "stuff" he had stored above his office......

I hate to hear that. Will the insurance from the RV place cover him possibly?

Well he has a responsible party. Time for a lawyer.

Just out of curiocity was he syphoning gas so he could empty the tank for a repair or was he just stealing the gas out of somebody's RV in for repair?

Well, he freaked after the fire started and rightfully so because he was on fire as well. Anyway he jumps in his truck and drives down the street to another business (my inlaws) and jumps out and tells them about the fire then passes out. The first words out of all the guys in the shop to me when I got there was " why is his gas door open on his truck?" "free gas"

Tomorrow I get to ask for that insurance name and number that they have

The more we look the more we notice the things we lost. Both cars now sport some odd body lines and my 84 bed doesn't look to good but it all can be saved. The black Rambler is now on the "back burner" because of all those parts are gone but the Olds will be done before GoodGuys somehow.

I've been working none stop on getting the stuff cleaned up and working again and it looks like we will just make our selfs at home at Stoked Out for a while. Thank God that they just poured another shop pad last week and with any luck it will be done in two months or so.......

I'll try and get some pictures soon, it seems I was holding my digital a little to tight the night of the fire...... no more digital pictures for awhile

Now there's a true car guy for ya. Despite some heavy losses, and looking forward to have to start over again on a near finished project, he still has a positive attitude. I think you should paint the black car red, and call it "After Burner".

Your in my prayers bro....
