TX Veh Inspections

New to TX...Just moved to Fort Worth/Burleson. I have 80 Chevy w/454 with Holley 750 carb, no cat converters. It does NOT have any SMOG 'stuff' on it since it was not required in the County I'm from in GA.
Does anyone from Fort Worth/Burleson know what kind of hoops I'm going to have to jump through to get my truck tags here?
Do they have a 'hot-rod' exemption here?
Thanks.

I don't think you have to do anything to get it to pass unless the vehichle came with it. If it came from the factory with it then it has to be put back on.

You live in one of the few areas in TX (DFW, Houston, and maybe El Paso) that have emissions inspections. The rest of us don't have them yet.

I'm in San Antonio, and the city keeps changing their minds about whether or not they will be required to start in the near future. I don't know whether to take the rest of the smog stuff off or to start looking for the stuff it is missing.

Burleson does have the emmission test. There are like 5 counties around Tarrant and Dallas county that have it. I live in Weatherford (Parker County) and they have it. I have a 73 and a 74 and they are exempt. Yes, I really like the Weatherford area.

How did you get an exemption if they require it in Weatherford? Age of vehicle? If so, how old does a vehicle have to be?

It was because of the age. I am not sure but I think it is 25 years or older.

it is 24 years and newer. You should be exempt this year. Check out the TX Dep't of Transportation website to be sure.

I Have an 81 and I am in the same boat. I reckon I have another year to go.....

Wish I could find an inspection friendly place to get the emmisions done.

Good luck
