1972 K20 front axle to wheel u-joint number help

I just want to replace my front axle u-joint at the wheel. I have been to O'Reilly's three different times and returned with three different u-joints. None have fit. Does anyone have the correct Spicer number?

Re: 1972 K20 front axle to wheel u-joint number help

There were two different bearing cap sizes of the axle joints and in '71 or 72 they made the change from the smaller caps to the larger caps. They are a 1310 series joint- either a Spicer 5-260x (small cap) or Spicer 5-760x (larger cap). You can measure the ujoint cap diameter to figure out which you have.
The 760 joint uses a 1.188" OD bearing cap
The 260 joint uses a 1.062" OD bearing cap

Thank you very much! I'll measure and order a Spicer today.
