1972 factory c10 wheels tire size
Hello, I'm sure this has been asked many times before, so if you know of a link to answer please post it, I have a 1972 c10 at factory height and factory rear wheel wells, what is the widest tire I can fit on it without hitting the tub? Also include wheels size and backspacing if possible I want to maybe stick with like 15x10 torque thrusts on the rear and maybe 295s if possible also may do a 2/4 drop later on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: 1972 factory c10 wheels tire size
With a drop I doubt the 10's will clear up front. Most folks run a 7" or 8" with 245/60 to maybe 255/60. Depending on the drop method, the wheels may interfere with Tie rods ends or require trimming of lower a-arm. Normally a 15x7 with 3.5" backspacing seems to do OK. I do not think in a 15" you will be able to clear more than a 4" backspacing up front regardless. Rears on the 10" seem to do OK with 4.5" backspace with out clearance issues.

Re: 1972 factory c10 wheels tire size
15x8 rally wheels have 4" B/S and easily clear everything in the front on my 69 C10.
The only issue I've ever had is a BFG Radial T/A 255/70 tire rubbing the front fender lip if you hit a bump during a turn. That was with approximately 2" front drop. However Cooper Cobras are a shade narrower than BFG Radial T/As, and don't rub. Also, and this might make a difference, my truck has 85 C10 spindles.

Re: 1972 factory c10 wheels tire size
The 295s on 10 should clear from what I have seen. Keep back space between 4 and 4.5 inch. To have tire heights balance/look right I would run a 245/60 up front on 7 or 8"
