Whining in 4WD
Hey, New guy here hoping to rejoin the Cehvy truck owners group again after a hit and run!
I am looking to buy a 96 Z71, but it whines when it is in 4wd and moving. Any suggestions on what may be the problem? |

Does it do it in 4HI and 4LO or just one?
Only at high speeds or will moving slowly? Sound like it is coming from the front diff or transfer case? Does the truck have push button or floor shift 4x4?

It has the pushbutton 4wd. I only noticed it up to 40 mph(city streets). I couldn't really tell where it was coming from, I just assumed it was from the front diff. since it only happened in 4wd. I didn't try 4 low. I'm supposed to go sign the paperwork on it tomorrow, but if I don't figure it out tonight, I'll just run it by a transmission shop before I sign the paperwork. My 95 K1500 didn't make the noise, so I just thought it was odd. Thanks for the help!!
