Favorite Candy
I eat a LOT of candy. And I have the dentist bills to prove it.
My favorites right now are Lifesavers, Necco wafers, and UNO chocolate bars. I always have a drawer full of candy. The Necco and UNO are a little tougher to find. So I stock up when I see them. I also munch on Altoids mints. So my breath is always minty fresh. I never went much for chewing gum or sour candy. My wife says everyday is like Halloween at our place. I don't know if she's talking about the candy or my face.

Re: Favorite Candy
I was watching one of those made in America show things (or something like that) a couple of weeks ago and it was the history of the Uno bar. Pretty interesting and still family owned. Whats weird is that as old as I am and I had never tried one. Ive now had two. Not too bad =)
My go to recently though has been the share size of the M&M's peanut butter M&M's ... I dont share them though =)

Re: Favorite Candy
My wife hates peanut butter. So I buy Peanut butter candy to keep her out of my stash.
Funny thing is that she loves peanuts. Just not peanut butter. She won't go near it. I keep telling her it's the same thing.

Sprees (with beer), Sweetarts (especially the old school non chewy Giantarts), Gobstoppers, Jolly Ranchers, Welch's Fruit Chews. I miss them so. Can't have any of them since the beetus showed up. Sigh.

See candy, eat candy. I always have it in the house, and shop, and car, and truck.... My wife says I am going to come back as a chocolate sugar cube in my next life. My favorite is home made fudge, no nuts, no marshmello, just cacao powder, sugar, salt, milk, butter, and REAL vanilla extract. I buy the best I can find. No McCormicks, Watkins, or Mexican for me.... They all used to be good but not any more. The brand I buy is $100 a quart. My favorite store bought is Mr Goodbar, Hershey's Special Dark, & M&M's Peanut. I bet I have eaten a couple thousand Clark Candy Bars in my lifetime but the company sold out and the new company didn't get the recipe for the Clark Bars with the business. I always bought them by the box of 24. LockDoc

Re: Favorite Candy
I mostly steer clear. For Christmas I was given a tub of dark chocolate covered almonds. Now I want another tub. A little chocolate on nuts is not a bad thing, right?
As a kid we all got our favorite candy in our stocking. Mine was thin mints/peppermint patties. I guess my favorite candy at the checkout was Junior Mints. My mom makes chocolate truffles at Christmas. Absolutely love them! There is a longtime family owned candy shop down in Baltimore and I used to stand in line to get truffles there for my Valentine wife. Those have the mouse pop on them we talked about in another thread. They have bagged up foil wrapped chocolate Christmas bells and Easter eggs I always would pop in (w/o taking a number) to buy for the kids. Also solid chocolate Easter bunnies. Always freshly made! I stumbled onto the place passing by on my way to my siding distributor warehouse I'd frequent a couple few times a week. Good old days. I'm not much on the city, but I do enjoy having a reason to go on occasion. There is good to be found about anywhere.

Re: Favorite Candy
There was a place that I used to read the meter at. It was a factory that made gourmet chocolates. Not a retail place. The smell inside would make you drool.
One time when I left I went and bought a Hershey bar because I was craving chocolate so bad. The Hershey bar didn't cut it. I like Hershey bars but it wasn't the same as the heaven that I had smelled. I was always hoping that they would offer me a sample. But they never did.

Re: Favorite Candy
I have a bit of a sweet tooth but I try to keep it under control, so I don't buy much very often. Can't say I have a favorite but I usually have a small bag of Smarties in a kitchen drawer. Mostly for sentimental reasons, probably -- when our daughter was very young, she insisted they were called "Snubbies". I think of that and I remember her as a little girl whenever I reach for the bag. She's in her mid-thirties now, where does the time go?

Re: Favorite Candy
I didn't mention, because I really do steer clear from candy, since my son lives here I pick up Christmas, Valentines, and Easter candy each year. I will pop one or two or three in my mouth here and there, usually when I get home from work before I have supper made... hunger cravings!. Pretty much what Reese's offers, and maybe Hershey's foil wrapped dark or milk chocolates. At Christmas, Reese's best offering is those bells, and they go fast!. I managed to snag 6 bags this year, the most ever. I had short notice when my son headed out and it wasn't till he left that I came across all those bags I still had stashed. I told him I'd send them on, but he said he'd be back in a few weeks. He's still there and so are the Christmas bells. I opened one bag back around Christmas and haven't had half of them yet. Once you get away from all that sugar it becomes a bit too much. Not preaching, do as you like, just not for me. Those dark chocolate covered almonds I could get used to real quick!
Now that this thread got me thinking candy, I'll have to buzz on down to Ballmer for some Rheb's truffles. I think I'll wait till after Valentine's Day, though. You can expect a long long line down the street. There's also Castle Wholesalers around the corner in the same complex the siding distributor was in. I'm due to take a browse for some tools. Maybe hit up Kirby's for a shrimp salad sandwich and stop in to Bill Mason's heavy haul trucking's shop, all right in the same area. You can thank me later. They send their delights out... www.rhebs.com I forgot about Wockenfuss Candy, also an old candy shop in Baltimore. I never go there. I know them from Ocean City on the boardwalk. I like their salt water taffy. I can chew on that awhile! Rheb's since 1917 and Wockenfuss since 1915. I wonder how many tons of candy they've made. We also have Domino Sugar at the Inner Harbor, so not far to haul all that sugar!

Re: Favorite Candy
Here is a local chocolatier in my city that has been in business for over 100 years. They make the best peanut butter chocolate Santas and Easter bunnies. Those two things are better than their peanut butter cups for some reason. I do my best to try to avoid the place or I’d be 350 pounds.
