Ok, I am in the middle of rebuilding my steering gear box. I am at the point to where I am placing the ball bearings in the gear box. I placed all twenty-two 0.280" diameter bearings in worm gear drive and can see now see them on both sides. However, I don't have anymore bearings to put in. What am I missing here?

When I took it apart I made sure to account for all the bearings that came out.

I have found some Saginaw that used 22 ball bearings, instead of the more common 24.

If you every have taken apart a steering column GM didn't completely fill the void there either.

Thanks Accelo. I figured out that some of the bearings went the wrong direction. Turns out I needed to move the worm drive to make sure they went in in the correct direction. Even then I had a bit of a void. But it is back together.

Well I got steering box on the truck and lines connected. Fired it up and no leaks found. So glad to finally have the leaks fixed.
