50th longhorn
picked up a "parts truck" from a neighbor down the road. he told me he had it and he bought a new house, and had no room to keep it. asked him how much and he told me to tow it out of there!! sight seen went ot tow it home (cant very well turn down a free truck can i?). after some cleaning, found that the build sheet is still in the back of the seat. best part is its a 50th! original 327 and all. ill get some pics this weekend to show and tell. it also has a tach, and its a longhorn!!(pfft...parts truck my @$$) anybody know any production #s on the 50th longhorns?

I think less than 300 68 Longhorns were produced regardless of 50th or not.
GET THEM PICTURES!

There is no telling how many 50th Longhorns were made, I have yet to find any production numbers or percentages made with that como.
However, you DO have the lowest production year of Longhorn since it was a mid year release. (11 March of 68 was the first Longhorn built) If you have a 3/4 ton, then there were 1902 like it built, only 213 one tons were made though, which is the rarest year/model longhorn. I think this is the 3rd or 4th confirmed 50th Longhorn we have verified through the board. Now you just KNOW we want pictures...right? |

Wow, That thing looks really clean. The bed is almost perfect. It must have had a camper on it or something. It looks very restoreable to me.
Great find! Does it still have the chomed hub caps? They are a fairly rare item. (It's also begging for a correct steering wheel.) I don't know why the Custom option isn't listed on the glove box. It looks like it has all the things that make it a Custom.

On second look at the glove box it does have the Z62 Custom option listed. It just isn't printed out completely.

That is a sweet deal. As far as the production numbers I would say that it is a high optioned rare model and it is well worth restoring. Thanks for sharing your pics.
