Question Door check repair

Can the door check be removed to repaired without removing the hinge ??
Can it be repaired while in the truck ??
I got the parts from Classic parts

All help or info appreciated.

Short answer is yes.

The only issues I had were the roll pins were rusted solid. I used a LONG (like 12" or longer) drill bit (in order to clear the door frame etc with my drill). I replaced them with a different size. It is better if you can get the stock ones out as I think they are tapered vs straight.

You pull the stuff out from inside the door and replace the pads. I had to connect them to the A pillar and use the door to get them fully seated. I greased them and worked them back and forth a few times to break them in.

I finally got it done. Had a hard tine pushing out the roll pin. Had to grind a chisel to fit the tool pin hole & a bigger hammer. Soaked the hole with oil and started pounding. Not that hard of a job jus the roll pin removeal. Also replace the door handle assembly. Two birds one stone
