Re: Tami's 51 build
Very sweet! Congrats.
I'd be so affraid to drive that. One rock chip and I'd park it away in a dark cave to never see daylight again.

Re: Tami's 51 build
Been a year since last post, only a couple issues…..always had to put ful in ful bowls after sitting a few weeks, hated to just sit and crank motor, so i finally added an electric pump inline, with a push button, it takes just a couple seconds to pressurize…BUT, it still bled off pressure after sitting, and while i hadnt noticed it before, Tami pulled in from a drive, and i lifted hood just as she killed it and i heard the ful bubbling in carb….never heard it before."….so ordered a 1” phnolic spacer…problem solved….carb temp dropped about 50 degrees…really dont have to use electric booster but will when it sits for a month….

Re: Tami's 51 build
some older carb'ed vehicles also used an aluminum plate along with the phenolic spacer. the place went on first and was larger than the spacer. this allowed it to shield more heat radiated from the intake manifold. if you find the carb is still boiling the fuel away you could always try that trick
any current pics of the truck? always good to see a finished project out in the real world |
