700r4 question

does anyone know why my 700r4 is going into overdrive as early as 25 mph ? is there any way I can correct that problem easily ? thanks

I don't know if 700r's have lockup torque converters like TH350's, but if it does the torque converter is locking up too quick. My Granddad's 83 Silverado had the same problem. You'd be cruising at 25-30MPH and the engine would start getting lugged down and he'd just shift to low gear when it did that, then shift back to drive and it stopped.

My truck also goes into top gear at 25mph, but I'm still running a Th350. Do you know your rear end ratio? Some of these trucks are just geared to pull & scream on the highway.

it won't shift into 4th gear until it reaches certain speeds. what is is doing is locking up the troque converter to save on gas mileage in town. it should theoretically lock up at 30-35, but could lock up sooner. adjust your tv cable to get it back on track.
