I am trying to decide to move the battery from the firewall to under the floor or just make a cover for it on my 1957. Has anyone made or seen a cool cover for the battery on the firewall? I want a clean look, but it is easy to get to on the firewall. Thanks.

You would have to fab it yourself or have someone fab it.

I have seen a couple on show trucks years ago but haven't seen one in the last 20 years.

pwd if you are after a clean look then i would put it on the frame somewhere.. You can then run battery cabels to an easy to reach place for boosting. put mine on inside of frame under cab and put two connection that can be reached on the ouutsid off frame towards back of cab.

If I wasn't running a gas tank I would get one of the batteries designed to be placed under the rear seat of a car and put it back behind the seat in a little bit of the space where the gas tank used to be. My 2K cad DTS had one like that that was low profile if a bit long and had plenty of amps. Side post but one for an 85 Audi 5000 is top post.

I was thinking of doing under the floor like a 1953. I have seen covers made from upholstery vinyl to match interior, but I haven't seen any painted covers. I thought maybe someone has made one out of fiberglass formed to fit like an engine cover.

if you install the battery in the cab ensure to vent it well. possibly a plastic box like used in boats or rv's.

my battery cover is behind the pass seat, where it's been for 15 years
other than addition of jump points, it has worked well there
not in a box, not vented. never a problem

it would depend on the battery you use if it has to be vented or not, A lead Acid battery needs to be vented. The newer styles may not need venting.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
