250 I-6 Help
I need some help on a 250. I was wondering if there is a good place to get a after market intake and exhaust manifold for these engine's?
 I know J.C. Witt sell's a header for these thing's but the intakes they sell are for the intake/ exhaust unit together. Can I just put a plate on the bottom of the intake? I have built a few V-8's but haven't done to much to I-6's. Thanks ahead of time.

I have a spare aluminum Offenhauser 4bbl intake and a 390 cfm holly if interested. I also have a new set of Dynomax headers for 63-87 chevy trucks i'm not using on the 57.email me.

250- I-6 help
Not saying that I've got it all figured out, but on my old I-6 ('72), I had installed a plate between the intake & exhaust manifold to eliminate the blow back that I was getting because the butterfly wouldn't stay in any position but open... It should run just fine, you just need to find a good way to seal off the bottom of the intake manifold

there is a place in california , i think it is called clifford engineering that makes a lot of parts for these motors

Hold up a second fellows...
If you put an aftermarket exhaust header set onto your inline engine, there is no need to use any plate on the intake manifold. All the intake has is a hollow cavity underneath it for the exhaust gasses to circulate through. This cavity is seperate from the air/fuel passage inside the manifold. Here's picture of one I have on my shop wall. Excuse the runny POR-15 paint on it. You can see the passages if you look close. The purpose of it all was to circulate heated exhaust under the intake to warm it up so the fuel wouldn't puddle inside. This is needed on inline engines because the manifold is hanging off the side of the engine. Typical Vee type of engines (V6 or V8) have the intake nestled right on the top middle of the warm engine, so there is less problem of the fuel puddling inside the intake manifold.
