Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!
It pretty much just adds to the end story of the project. LOL
My wife works as a property manager. There is always someone who skips on the commercial spaces and the stuff left behind gets sold at some point (never seen a million-dollar unit like on TV, but a gem here and there) The chassis and project popped up on Marketplace and I was like WOW, right here in town. Then I looked in the background and it was an old mill that has been converted for storage and a few guys mechanic/body work in some of the buildings. It is one of the properties she manages. I called her boss which is my childhood best friend and told him I wanted it, and he said a guy is on the way. So, I said, "So am I". When I got there, they were finishing the deal. I guilted him pretty bad (that is what friends do). I bought a 80 long bed truck (complete) for $400 and then a 2004 Tahoe that was missing a front diff and the transfer case for $100. This weekend I pulled everything I want off the 80-model truck. And the LS motor is free, just needs to be lifted out but the rain got me late this afternoon. So, I have all the things I want in a project, but I just don't have a project just yet. |

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!
No doubts.
There are four that I know of right here in town. One is pretty rough. Two are mid project but everything is there and in pretty good shape for the most part. The fourth is an almost to the end project. All four are 'entertaining' the thoughts of selling them. LOL The wait is helping me get prepared and stockpile some stuff so when the project actually starts the 'parts' search will not be so bad. Scott Quote:

A beast with a different vibe down in Hogfarm's general area.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/47.5...00913060098163 We have been watching a lot of the Offroad recovery shows from Utah and my wife has been talking crawler. I may have a way to use up some of my left over parts.

Is that a scam or just a really good price?

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!
I doubt it is a scam but to me it sure isn't "a really good price". The truck just flat does not have the fit and finish that Dan's truck, your truck or several other TF trucks on here have.
spray can black firewall, For me on a basically original truck that is a thousand dollar bargaining tool. It's a real nice driver quality truck that a lot of folks will like because of the automatic. Anyone buying it and figuring that they are going to take it to shows and win awards are probably going to be disappointed. Great for going to cars and coffee and the burger joint cruise night, It's going to take some work to be an award winner on a larger scale.

The red one? Don't THINK it's a scam. Price is about right if you see the pics. It's nice but not as nice as the first impression the first pic gives

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!
That's a nice looking truck but the pictures don't match the written description. That's not a four barrel carb, it's got a clutch pedal, and no whitewalls as it says. You would need to get rid of the straight axle, add ps, pb, and a/c, and a good radio to make it a good driver IMO. I would have to get rid of that side mounted spare tire too. It's a nice starting place but that's a lot to pay for a starting place.

Trans is a compound / granny 4 speed. I'm thinking cash talks and someone might end up with a pretty decent little driver truck.

4 barrel carb, turbo 350 manual trans and dual exhaust on a I6, screams SCAM!

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!
Side mounted spare is nice for a driver that you are actually going to drive and use. A battle of laying under the back of the truck in the mud or on pavement so hot in the summer time that you get burns on any bare skin that touches it will convince you of that even tough the look doesn't jive with the clean and uncluttered look.
My 77 long bed C10 had the spare under the bed and on the one flat I had on it it took longer to get the spare out from under the truck than it did to jack it up and swap tires and go. Dang, that was amost 50 years ago.

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!
There isn't much of anything AD or TF wise for sale locally (within 100 miles) on FB market place or Craigslist right now. Some of the Craigslist adds may have expired though. Some of the FB adds were pretty old and I almost posted a link to one that was almost a year old the other day.
After the car show season is pretty well over a lot of enthusiast vehicles usually come up for sale as owners either decide to sell to finance a project or mark having an old truck or car and going to shows off their list of been there done that. There is a somewhat local guy that I know who has done the build a hot rod thing, Have a drag car thing, then he had a Harley and went to Sturgis a couple of times and the last time I saw him he had a wake boat. I ran into him at a gas station when he was getting ready to go out with the boat and I was getting gas in my car. I'm thinking that there may have been a Corvette or two in the mix too as I only see him every two or three years But Wait a minute, Here is a GMC with an S-10 frame and a wee six for 2800 that was posted a couple of weeks ago that I missed. https://yakima.craigslist.org/cto/d/...530397077.html That might make a project for someone within driving distance. Bring your own basket.

Stuff like this has been coming up for days on the tech/swap forums. Got invite to look at 54 project here. Might be free?

He's 93 miles from me and 22 miles from Hogfarm. I don't think anything he has is going to be close to free.
I posted that 4x4 here the other day and to tell the truth if I won the lotto I'd be seriously thinking about going after it. 21 K or not it just spins my wheels. I could probably build my own version for a lot less though.

Was a day too late for the local 54 project. Think i Missed opportunity of lifetime as all of it was given away. Talking solace in that I'm too old anyway.
