Mri for gasket matching
I taped a Mri over the intake ports of my new Airgap intake , then I shoved my fishes nightlight up the hole.
Next you use a regular scraper razorblade and carefully cut out the ports. Next place over your intake ports of your heads and grind till they are exactly the same. Perfect! Just hope somebody in the house is a gimp and has a stack of old MRI's to use.

ive seen people do that with intake manifold gaskets before but my question is how are you sure you are going to get them taped up in the exact spots on the heads

to get it lined up PERFECT you use the bolt holes. i cut those out too...
and an MRI(those that dont know) is a Medical X-Ray. THOSE were of my back.

hes just using them as a template to get the intake/head ports identical more flow more power we used to do the same things on our dirt track cars but we used the gaskets for templates same difference as what he is doing it works great i just had my head in my a$$ when i responded the other day it must have been the mri papers that threw me off anyway ttt for yah

You just have to make sure youtransfer the same gasket with the correct (opposite)side to the intake as you had on the head. Had a buddy not pay attention and the intake and head didn't match at all.

I like to think of it as port matching instead of gasket matching. I don't think the gasket manufactures give a lot of though to flow when they design a gasket although the gasket's port sizes are based on typical ports so they are close. Sometimes when using an aftermarket intake with stock heads the head needs a little work to open up the port. With larger port heads the intake runner can may need a little porting. Just don't get carried away and create a bellmouthed area which will kill the velocity in the middle of the port. You should try to keep the intake manifold openning about .050 larger than the head openning to allow for any misalignment during assembly. When the ports are finish then I check the gasket to be sure it doesn't extend into the port area and trim it with a razor if it does.
