Anybody using an electric fan, if so, any recommendations?

I will be installing an electric fan and shroud from a 2000's Chevy HHR. Cheap, and easy to fit. The matching fan shroud is a big plus.

Will that cool down a 350 SBC ?

I think it should, and I found out about it here. Other members here are already using it. With that shroud it should pull plenty of air through.

I plan on using it on an aluminum radiator, with a 305 SB and A/C.

Yes, Derale dual 12" HO fans in my shroud on my down flow radiator. No mechanical fan.

I've got dual electric fans on an aluminum radiator with a shroud, controlled with a Dakota Digital controller. It keeps the truck cool enough even in the Tucson,AZ heat.

I run a Flex-A-Lite Black Magic 3300cfm on factory V cell 62 v8 radiator in Las Vegas on a 408sbc. Ran same fan on Durango on 35s. I use a fan Control from Speedway Motors that piggybacks off temp sensor. Can be seen in my build page

Typically the addition of electric fan(s) will overwhelm the factory alternator on our old trucks.
Check the amp draw on the fan/s and take it into consideration when completing a conversion.

Works just fine in 110* heat. Runs 185 on a 408sbc and 195-205 on the Durango 318cui

Good point. I figure I'm OK on that with the early '80s alternator from the same donor as my 305 SB. But I think the original alternators in the '63-66 trucks were only like 35 amps.

I am at the the low end for 62. My 2005 Ram 3500 runs 340 amp vs stock 180A for stereo and accessories...on 2/0 welding cable

It is, but what Accelo and LVPhotos is saying about electric fans and alternators is correct. The 63 amp that came it these trucks won't handle much. Good call on the Black Magics LVPhotos, the desert heat is a killer.

I've used a '96 Ford T-Bird/Mercury Cougar XR-7 electric fan on two C10's and plan to use the same set up on a 3rd C10 shortly. Moves a ton of air but requires an alternator upgrade. Fits pretty well and zero issues so far.

Pretty much any electric fan that moves enough cfm to keep a sbc cool will warrant an alternator/charging/wiring upgrade.

Not that far in my build, but the electric fan on my '53 truck is wired directly to the battery, using a relay, also. I use a Derale controller.

Is the HHR fan a 2-speed?

For my 66 c10 and 250 6cyl I'd like to know if this hhr fan can be used with my existing temp sensor to turn on and off as needed and not needing me to flip a toggle

I'm planning to add a dedicated temp switch for this, will turn on at 185° and off at 170°. I don't think the existing sender would work well for this.
