Retro Sound Kick Panels with JL C2-650X speakers

Trying to find out if the Retro Sound Kick Panels will allow the mounting of JL Audio C2-650X speakers

Retro Sound doesn't list a max depth and the photo appears to be just a generic photo

Re: Retro Sound Kick Panels with JL C2-650X speakers

I bought a similar kick panel speaker setup as that one and used Rockford Fosgate P165-SE which have a mounting depth 5 MM less than the speakers you are looking have. With that being said, just like the majority of people on this forum that have put the kick panel speakers in, you will most likely need to buy a spacer to increase the clearance between the speaker and the kick panel which is what I did to make mine work. Just a heads up as well, you will most likely need to relocate you dimmer switch for the high beams as the speakers will be in the way.

Thanks Leigh222 - I'll begin looking for spacers as well then

The other thing that comes into play is the emergency brake pedal. I did not use any spacer, but the brake pedal barely touches when I use it. I cut the pedal down so it would clear.

And after all that, you'll likely be disappointed with the sound.

While I mostly agree with you. Probably not the case for many. Installed car audio for many years myself long ago. While those kick panels will eliminate any bass and destroy mid bass from any car audio speaker regardless of the price or quality, most will not care because they are fine with base level stock systems and just want sound. Some will add a boomy self-amplified sub for bass. After that system will hit the high end of the bass spectrum. Even though there are "holes" in the audio spectrum especially in the in the mid and low bass it will not be missed because it sounds okay. My remarks are not derogatory, it is just what I see as reality.
