Southern Kentucky Classics

Looks like Southern Kentucky Classics is now a Holley company. Not sure what to expect or what changes may occur. I always had a positive experience with SKC, good products/selection and great service.

1st order of business was to close their store. If you want a store and you are in the ky/tn/al area, Jimmys Bow Tie Parts in Shelbyville Tn still has in store service. I moved my business there.

I bought a lot of stuff from SOKY....they delivered two windshields to the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge for me so they wouldn't get broken in shipping.
Not sure if they will be doing shows going forward...?

Yep. Drove by the Brothers warehouse the other day…shut down and up for lease.

I bought a woodgrain/chrome bezel from Holley, Brothers part, shipped from their Bowling Green warehouse. It was the wrong one so I shipped it back per their instructions and told them to send me the correct one rather than crediting my Visa. They shipped the EXACT same one back to me! After waiting forever on the phone for the return line I finally got to talk to a real person and they got it straightened out. They did appoligize for the error and I was shipped the correct bezel. It's frustrating to have to go through that, I don't think an independant dealer would have made that kind of mistake.
And to top it all off the new reproduction bezel is of poor quality to say the least so I'll have to go through the trouble of returning it for a refund and eat the shipping charge.

Holley is a SOB to deal with!
Customer service is absolutely terrible! Fought for 3 months on a customers 4150 super snyper stealth efi till they sent me a new one.
Anyone use Tuckers?

Last time I talked to the guys that worked at SKC when this change was taking place, they said That Holley promised them they can keep their job.

I just wonder if that held true or if they even wanted to stay?

I drove to Ky and got several Big parts from them.
I always enjoyed doing business with them.

This opens the door to all kinds of possibilities for the new owners to offer existing employees whatever job, pay, and schedule the new owners need. “What? You don’t want to go from M-F / 9-5 parts grabber to 3rd shift forklift jockey in the warehouse that’s 10 miles away? That’s your choice.” They were offered employment and refused. Lawsuit dodged. ✅

I hope for their sake, they are well taken care of and the transition is seamless. Seems that’s the exception these days, not the rule.

Like WCT here, I really wish for the best outcome for those involved.

Also I agree about the selling of employees to other "entities" and how those sold are often dismissed/fired after having been given the option to either move away from their home, accept completely different/difficult circumstances, take a pay cut or all of the above. Unfortunately it's not against current law for businesses to operate in this manner and keep themselves out of "lawsuit jail."

Apple, Amazon, Disney, IBM, Walmart, CVS, Costco, Microsoft, all the major banks, the major telcos, Boeing, Caterpiller and all American corporations enjoy the unfettered ability to replace educated, high skill, high paid American men and women in STEM fields with H1B visa workers (mostly) from India.

One of things about smaller businesses that were started by the original owners the owners are aging out. They had good success, made some money over the years. Now they want spend some of that money without the daily stress of owning a business.
The manufacturing company I worked for almost 40 years was started by two brothers. Small machine shop started in 1964 and when I joined the company in 1981 250 employees.
But in 98-99 the brothers were aging out. They had a number of offers from big companies to buy the business. So as employees we bought the company. It's called an ESOP. Employee Stock Ownership. If you were game you could only invest 401K money. No outside money. 95% of the employees invested. We were audited every and had a ESOP council made up of employees.
I retired 5 years ago and today they are at close 800 employees.
I would suggest to any one selling their business check out the ESOP route.
