Re: Tail light, brake, turn signal, backup light ideas?
the ones that came with the yamaha lights simply tuck in under the clamp, not byu much either, but they stay attached at highway speeds. they would be facing rearwards anyway. mine were bent due to a crash, my wife dropped her bike. put her foot on backwards. the lights got some road rash and the worst part was the eyebrow part.
yup, she doesn't have the bike any more. an audi TT roadster is how she gets the wind in her hair, haha. |

Re: Tail light, brake, turn signal, backup light ideas?
The first of the two Grote lights showed up today, the other arrives tomorrow. The chrome buckets showed up too. The fitment is close, but not perfect, not that I expected it to fit like a glove. I need a way to mount the grote light to the bracket that sits behind the outer chrome ring. I may just use a dab of clear J&B Weld to affix it to the bracket.

Re: Tail light, brake, turn signal, backup light ideas?
its a little different than the inside of the lights that I have, mine have a stepped area formed into the light bucket itself so there is no intermediate part like yours have. it has been a year or two but I seem to remember the grote part butted up into the light housing and then the ring went over and then the screw and nut suck the ring up tight against the grote part. from experience I can tell you that the grote part will take a beating and still keep on working so I wouldn't worry about a little jb weld to hold the intermediate part to the grote part, just do it so it is easy enough to get off should you need to replace the grote part for some reason. did you also get the pigtail electrical part as well?

Actually, the pigtail you see won't fit the Grote part, it was just a two wire deal for a fog light (purpose of the chrome bucket) but I have the four wire Grote pigtail on order and it should arrive today.

Re: Tail light, brake, turn signal, backup light ideas?
Just a few dabs of clear J&B around the rim of the chrome bucket insert and the Grote 4-in-1 lights fit perfectly. I'm now waiting for a different set of stainless flexible tubing to hold the wires. The chrome set I had was too long (and expensive - I returned them). Once the stainless flex tubing arrives, I will drill a hole in the buckets to exit the wiring through the tubing and then begin the mounting process on the rear of the truck.

you can buy those pigtils at just about any truck stop, really common for semi trucks and trailers. if not try a local semi truck/trailer supply place. cheaper online though prolly.

Or in the stake pocket.
