Replacement TH350 Pan

The old steel OEM transmission pan has been straightened (again) and a new gasket installed, and it still weeps a bit of oil. I am ready to try an aluminum pan in hopes of a better seal. Looking for recommendations for a reasonably priced stock depth pan with a drain plug. So far I have looked at Summit's website and the number of pans they carry is impressive -- and confusing.

Also planning on a LubeLocker pan gasket. https://www.summitracing.com/search/...d=lub-llt-g350

No need to spend that much money for a pan gasket.. OEM "cork" gaskets work just fine.. The trick is to install the gasket "dry" and not over tighten the bolts. Tighten them a little at a time, evenly all around. Watching the gasket, tighten enough as the gasket just starts to crush.

Three years ago, I installed a Summit brand deep aluminum pan on the transmission in my truck.. The pan comes with all necessary hardware, bolts, gaskets, filters, etc.. Does it leak ---- not a drop.

Re: Replacement TH350 Pan

Years ago, a Guy I went to high school with,

And We worked at a Service station together.

He showed me the Trick.\

Use the Cork gasket and a thin coat of

Light brown chassis Grease and even torque on the pan bolts.

I install all of the transmission pan gaskets dry. I mean clean and dry. Use some paint thinner or carb cleaner on both surfaces. Then install the gasket and torque to 13 foot pounds. You will not have an issue. I do not recommend the chrome pants under any condition. You will be much better off with the stock, steel pan or the aluminum like you mentioned.

Re: Replacement TH350 Pan

FWIW I bought a steel TH350 pan with drain plug and used a felPro gasket from auto part store. I just use a skim coat of transmission RTV between pan and gasket. Dry as a bone. YMMV

It is from Speedway but I bought from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also got this magnet I put in the corner of pan
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you want a aluminum cast pan, I have used Hughes.

Re: Replacement TH350 Pan

Hello,
Some times it is the shift shaft seal and not the pan gasket. May want to check it.
