Differences in bumper/brackets?
I can’t seem to find the post now but I remember seeing one here where there were pictures of the front bumpers of two different year trucks which showed the differences in the spacing of the outer most bumper holes. I have a 68 and the previous owner swapped out the front bumper and never reinstalled the outer braces (which he gave to me but I am assuming they are original).
I tried to reinstall the braces and they are too short so I am assuming he swapped in a different year front bumper. Trying to figure out what outer braces I need and from what year so I can purchase them. Thanks! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Differences in bumper/brackets?
If your current bumper has the turn signals mounted in it, then it's the 71-72 style that requires longer outer brackets.

Re: Differences in bumper/brackets?
67-70 Chevy & 67-72 GMC use the short front outer bumper brackets and are interchangeable. The 71-72 Chevy uses the long outer bumper and bumper has parking light turn signals in front bumper.

Re: Differences in bumper/brackets?
It does not have the turn signals in it- but the brackets I have don’t even come close to fitting. I’ll take a look at some pictures of the outer bolts on the 71-72 c10s and see how they compare with what I have.

Re: Differences in bumper/brackets?
I hope this helps and not confuse. But it does show brackets for comparison. I'm not sure we worked this out because I have more styles than four.
It should be: * 67-70 Chevy/67-72 GMC 2wd * 71/72 2wd * 67-70 Chevy/67-72 GMC 4wd * 71/72 Chevy 4wd https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=780619&page=2

Re: Differences in bumper/brackets?
Thanks for the replies...I looked at some front end pictures online and it appears I have some aftermarket front bumper which has the outer bolt spacing of the 71-72s but no turn signal holes. The outer bumper holes line up with the outer half of the front headlights, unlike all the other years which have them on the inner half, which would make sense why the original brackets dont fit.
