gears and govlock unit from an 8.5" rearend from an 88-up truck?

88-up trucks have a much wider frame than our 73-87 trucks do, I'm sure it could be done, but may be more effort than you wanna put in...

I would highly recommend staying away from the gov-lok, they don't do to good in performance applications.

what if i got a set of relativly new richmond 3.73 gears and goclock with only 30k miles on it for $200?

It would be difficult to set up those gears to be the same as they were in the newer housing back into your housing. Also, the 88 and up rears use 31 spline axles instead of 28 like the 79-87 10 bolts.

You'd be better off buying a new set of gears and a new posi so you only have to pay to get it set up once.
