Any Original Owners?

Just wondering, how many 1988-1998 ORIGINAL truck owners do we have on the website? If you bought one of these great trucks brand-new back in the day, let us know what you got!

Re: Any Original Owners?

I am not the original owner but my father purchased a 1991 GMC 1500 Ext. cab long bed new at Murphy Cadillac GMC in Spartanburg SC. I still have this truck. Truck is still in great shape with 142,00 miles on it.

Re: Any Original Owners?

Purchased my 94 new. Lowered 6/8 right after. After 10 years I raised to stock height but kept the de-arched leafes in the back. Maybe 5 years ago I lifted the front 5" and rear 2" over stock. Still looking for my dropped pics.

Re: Any Original Owners?

I find that both family-owned and original owner trucks are a great part of our hobby. They provide a history, with special meaning and purpose to all of us maintaining and restoring these vehicles.

WAYNEP: The family-owned 1991 truck looks really nice-eee. You made me think about, what year was the first "extended" cabs (not 4 door "crew cabs") offered? Also, the fact that the Cadillac Dealers (and I believe Pontiac Dealers) sold GMC trucks has always been interesting to me. You should be proud to have your father's truck and I am sure he is happy that you are keeping it in the family.

RICHARD: 1994 Original Owner truck, WOW you got to kidding me! Again, very nice truck! I don't recall seeing that color before, is that a factory color? I like how over the years you have been changing the ride heights to keep up on what's hot at the time. The truck stance is always important, it not only changes its altitude, but also..........it's attitude.

Re: Any Original Owners?

Sidestepped I am very proud to have my dad's truck. I also have 2 other cars that belonged to my parents. A 1969 Pontiac CustomS they purchased new in Febuary of 1969 and a 1955 chevy my dad purchased in 1993. My mom is living and is 75 but my dad passed in 2008.

Re: Any Original Owners?

I should have kept my '92 and fixed it up, but the engine blew and I sold it in '15 due to finances.

'92 K3500 SRW regular cab SLE 6.5TD/5spd/4.10

I went in one Saturday morning, had the salesman bring out the options books, a piece of paper and a pen so I could have GMC build me a truck. I had gold trucks, a '70 C/30 and an '84 K30 so I wanted a gold '92. Company color! But nope, no gold offered as it turned out. I decided to order a truck when I saw a gold Chevy K2500. I guess it wasn't a '92 or only Chevy had gold. I wanted the interior to stay light beige (tan) and I couldn't have it with the colors they offered that I liked.

Here we had the whole truck down on paper and he's flipping pages probably worried about losing the sale. I am hardheaded after all. He flipped past a page with 5-6 colors that I knew were fleet colors. I had him go back and he said those were only available to fleet customers, which were businesses that ordered 10 or more trucks. "If I had a fleet of new trucks and an employee totalled one I couldn't order one to replace it in the same color?" I wanted Woodland Green, which had been in GM's truck color selections forever, very classic truck. He said he'd talk to GMC. They said they'd allow it but I had to wait for a minimum of 5 orders before they'd put it through. I think that took 6 weeks.

I actually ordered it with the future in mind, as well as the past. I ordered it the way I would have ordered a '72. Saw it as a future classic from new, but bought for work and work it surely did... 22 years!
