Difference in NP205 and NP203 torque mount?

So I swapped in a 205 in place of the 203 I had and the 203 had the side torque mount (brackets with two small poly mounts that bolts to the passenger side frame rail) on it. Now with the 205 the large L-shaped bracket that bolts to the transfer case and has the poly mounts through it is too long and does not match up with the holes in the transfer case. I also have the same brackets off a 205 and they are exactly the same as the 203 brackets. Is there any difference in these mounts between a 203 and 205? My GM shop manual shows the two large bolts going through the two poly mounts and the frame with the nuts on the bottom of the frame. The poly mounts rest on the frame rail. But when bolted to my 205 the mounts are above the frame rail, not touching it. Does anyone have a picture of this setup on their 205 to show how it's bolted together?

Re: Difference in NP205 and NP203 torque mount?

Thanks for the picture. Thats how I figured it would go, same as the 203, just moved ahead one hole in the frame. The only problem seems to be the holes in the transfer case bracket don't line up, they're too low when the rest of the mount is bolted to the frame. This is for my '74 pickup if that makes a difference.

Re: Difference in NP205 and NP203 torque mount?

Well I bought a NP205 bracket off EBay. There is a difference between the 203 bracket and the 205 as well as the 205 bracket from a '72 Blazer I have. I will post pictures soon to show the differences.

Re: Difference in NP205 and NP203 torque mount?

Below is a photo of the different torque mounts I've run across. Left to Right: 1974 465/203 (what came off my truck), 1972 Blazer 465/205, ? year 205. The farthest right was correct for my '74 after I swapped in the 205, everything bolted up in the factory holes.

Re: Difference in NP205 and NP203 torque mount?

I know this is an old thread but I am swapping a 1973 NP205 in my 1975 K10 that had the NP203. Basically got trans and transfer case bolted together with shifter. Only thing I didn't get was the cross member. Will the one of the np203 work or do I need to hunt a cross member. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
