Checking Transmission fluid level in 400 turbo
Do you check the transmission fluid level in a Chevy TH400 turbo by checking it when the engine is warm and truck is idling in neutral?

Also should be on reasonably level ground.

Was working years ago with a trans shop and he always checked the level while in gear also. Dunno if it matters much. I was taught to check in neutral also

I believe it should be checked with the transmission in park, should say right on the dipstick.

Neutral or park, I don't think it matters. I believe the only difference is the engagement (or not) of the parking pawl inside the transmission.
