I guess I'm not following what you are asking. Will the brake caliper work on what? And you have one off of a 79 1/2 what?

I have a junked 74 caprise for parts. I have a 68 stepside I am putting a 79 disc brakes on (just spindles and stuff not the whole crossmember. but one brake caliper is shot I cant even push the piston out with 120 psi of air pressure. my guess is that they will swap but I think someone beat on the caprise. basically willl the piston swap if I can pop them both out.

By the 79 disc brakes, do you mean pickup or Caprice?

I looked on Hollander and it looks like the 74 Caprice caliper is different than the 79 C-10. The Caprice caliper would work on a 71-78 C-10 but not 79-up. I looked on Advance Auto Parts website and it shows the same part numbers for the piston's (I had to campare a 75 and 79 C-10 because they did not show anything for a 74 Caprice) so you should be able to swap. Also, the rotors are the same on the Caprice and the 79 C-10 so you could use the thickest set. I know how limited budgets can be, but you can get a re-man caliper for under $15 at the parts stores for the 79 C-10. The price of the piston by itself is $17 (go figure).
