Some cutting, turning, and polishing got me this. Now instead of a cheap black knob I have a cheap green knob!

Yes it has, until yesterday!

I haven't gotten much done on the truck, my wife has been hit with spring fever and we have been getting some projects done around the house. So with repairing the horse barn, cutting 3 trees, cleaning out some fence rows, and repainting the door on her she-shed I've been slacking on the truck.

Hope to be back at it next week! Rg

Re: Previous owner '68

Well, my family history finally caught up to me and after a bunch of testing I had to have a heart cath. No stents or anything, just a exploratory look around. Give me a week to recover and hopefully I'll be back on it. Looks like I'll be on some form of medicine, won't know until next Wednesday.

Boys, don't ignore those warning signs.

Did they relocate your heart? Okay, sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm not taking this seriously. Maybe caught up in how your humor runs through this thread. I hope that all is well and that everything heals up quickly.

I can't really be sure, I think I slept through it! I appreciate the humor, we all need to laugh more and worry less!

Well, I feel like I have been kicked in the groin by a mule, but couldn't stay out of the shop. Looked around for something I could do while sitting on my butt and listening to Wu-Tang Clan.

I had these old visors that I hated to throw out so I channeled my inner sailmaker and spent 3 hours fixing something I could have replaced for $75 bucks. Not too shabby.

Also did a general cleanup in the shop. When I do something I tend to drag out every tool I have. I'm working on having a designated place to put everything but it takes time and my layout keeps changing!

You don't fit my profile for WTC listener, but I like when people mess with my expectations

Heal up soon. Nice visor work.

Racial profiling is alive and real. I have a wide range of musical interest. You have to give all music a chance.

I think the visors will work, going to dye them eventually. The hard part is getting the posts out!

Re: Previous owner '68

Finally spent some time on the bed floor. I've had every excuse in the world not to finish the floor but I've run out of good ones! Still not where I want it so the battle rages. I'm not shooting for perfection but want it as good as I can get it without having to hire a mudslinger. Tedious work.

wow I'm glad I went the easy way and jumped on the "patina is cool" bandwagon. I do not envy trying to body work a bed floor like that, however, it is going to look so good when it's done. And all the better that you will have that trick steel floor step side.

Re: Previous owner '68

I have seriously been thinking about a patina paint job. But there's a certain line I can't cross and excessive rust is one of them.

Not so sure how trick it is! I know there's at least one 64-66 Chevy stepside with a steel floor from a obs truck in it.

Hopefully I can get it straight enough for paint, if not, bedliner!

What sanding block are you using for the bed floor?

16" long straight-line (Hutchens Hustler) on the rib tops and a smaller one I shaped by hand for the areas between. The 16" is air powered but the smaller between ribs one is all arm powered. I wish I had a smaller jiggler but the 16" one is all I have.

Re: Previous owner '68

Got excited and sprayed primer way too early. It made the fact that the floor needs much more work than I thought painfully obvious. So tomorrow, more block sanding, probably more bondo, and probably some banging on high spots. Absolutely the last bed floor I will ever do! Except for maybe the jimmy when I get back to it...

It's not too bad, just not ready for paint. I am going to paint it. If it looks like crap painted then I will bedliner it!

I agree it doesn't look to bad from the pic. At least with the primer you can see where it needs the most attention.

There's a guy on You tube, Carter Auto Restyling, man, he's a metal work'n fool. His work is crazy good. He teaches as he works. I've learned a lot for his channel.
