Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
Grant 832.
Reasons: Looks OK, is "inexpensive", adapter kit is "inexpensive", 3.5" deep dish moves the steering wheel toward the dash about an inch. Available on Amazon and Ebay http://grantproducts.com/products/view/83/ You have to download their catalog to get the diameters, dish depths and other models available. |

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
Not sure what you mean by "flat bottom"... I have a Lecarra 43201 14" wheel on a flaming River tilt column.. The wheel is dished only about one inch, and the adaptor hub places the wheel 2 1/2 inches above the top lip of the column.

The steering wheel looks like the letter "D" laying on it's side, flat line down. |

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
I used a wheel out of a 1986 Chevy Z24 Cavalier. Bolted right on and the original GMC horn cap snapped on. I even used the Cavalier 6cyl tach.

In your opinion do you think a 13" or 13.5" wheel would be a problem? Thanks! |

Mock up a cut circle of cardboard or something to test fit. Tilt column also is an option Get a wheel with little to no dish in it. When I got my 72 I had forgotten how fing small these cabs are Moving gas tank to under truck then allows the seat to be moved back a little |

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
This is the Grant I bought (poet 6), 14" 739 Elite GT. I did get a cheaper one before this but returned it as it just felt "thin" relative to the grip. I also prefer this horn button type as it is more precise than the "cap" type on the less expensive models. I have a similar wheel in my 67 Camaro also.

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
This is what I put on my 72 C20 . I like the look and was similar to what was on muscle cars from the era.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/355518067703 Those come in several colors, but the saddle fit my interior. |

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
I have this same wheel on my truck, comes from a 88-92 truck. It is a very nice size and looks like it came on the truck.

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
The first pic below is of the genuine leather version that I've only seen on 92 to 94 deluxe S10 LT Blazers.
The other 2 pics compare the depths of these wheels to the original wheels that were used on our trucks. It looks like these 15" wheels would also provide an extra inch of "belly room".

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
It's like shortening the column 1", only a lot easier! I've had the 88-92 wheel for 30 years, and I shortened the column 1" a couple years ago. What a PITA!

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
I liked my original 17" steering wheel but it was right on my gut and if I would have dropped the intermediate shaft down the steering wheel might have been hitting my legs. I don't even know what the offset was, maybe 3.5"(?). This new inexpensive Grant is 13" with a 1" (?) offset gives me lots of room. I'm going to have to bend the turn signal lever down some, my hands keep hitting it.
Yeah, this new wheel is weird but it serves it's propose..... |

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
I'd like to shorten my shifter handle an inch or two so it doesn't stick out so far from my 15" wheel. Looks like something for a machine shop or the aftermarket.

Re: What Small Steering Wheel You Using?
I have a “Forever Sharp” steering wheel but they seem to have become the belly button of all steering wheels.
I would like to change mine to the Sparc “Truss” steering wheel.
