Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
I drove up to the Yakima Elks (Or as some know it Selah Elks) car show yesterday and did my walking around and photo taking and getting some visiting in and while most of the trucks were the same ones I have shown from other shows there were a few new ones out.

This one, I don't remember seeing before. Nice younger guy has it and I got to visit with him for a while at the other end of the show while we were looking at a different truck.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
I'm thinking that this silver one is a fresh build or my memory is shot. Slick looking truck that didn't have any license plate on it. The frenched tail lights looked like those red bullet clearance light lenses. that go under the middle of a flatbed.
I tried to get a shot of the interior and ended up with more of a shot of my shirt.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
I was impressed by the barbecue trailer these guys had, Burgers and pulled pork sandwiches with a drink and chips for 10.00 for either and the burgers were pretty good.
This red one was built by a shop in the town where Nvrdone lives and is a quality build. These guys are turning out some real nice high end builds many that they build and sell at Barrett-Jackson auctions.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
More on the red truck. Red AD trucks always get an extra photo or more when I show up.
Nicely installed LS engine in it. The turquoise and white Square body is a local event mainstay. He hits every show in the area and is involved in the Saturday morning cars and coffee in Yakima. This little Bronco isn't a Chevy but this may be my favorite photo that I took at the show simply because he was way off down at the end of the row, there were no people or other clutter in the shot. It's a shot that I hope the vehicle owner finds and saves.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
The pickings were slim for 67/72 trucks but this is one of the nicest ones I have seen lately and I don't remember seeing it before. It had a South Dakota 1972 YOM plate but I don't know if that is legit or for show. Washington had stickers for year and month since the 60's and some years are hard to find.
The Elkie was pretty nice and not one I had seen before.

LS powered GMC this time, This one showed up for the first time this spring and represents a lowrider club from what I can tell.
It's a nice clean and simple truck though.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
LS power was out in force yesterday, This lowrider truck defies the norm for that style of build.
Fun for the photographer yesterday is that most of the time there wasn't any clutter around the cars nor where there a lot of people around them as it is more of a car folk event than spectator event due to it's location on a golf course. Getting interior shots was a rough go with windows up or half way up. Super nice lifted Blazer that I don't think sees any off road time.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
The engine compartment of the Orange Blazer. Clean.
My friend Tim's A roadster, He was the go to Tune up guy in the valley before he semi retired. He did a lot of tuned port Chevy FI installations a few years back that are still running around. Then there was this (I never did figure out what it was and forgot to check further) sedan with an LS with a blower stuffed under the hood in a stellar install.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
Some square body trucks in the show.
Mirror polish on those aluminum rims on the gray one. This is my link to my Smugmug album for the event. A good number if interesting rides and some just OT rides as it is a fund raiser for the Elks club and anyone with an entry fee in their pocket can put their car in the show. They had 180 vehicles registered and I thought that was a good turn out. https://robertdavison.smugmug.com/20...-Elks-car-show One of the local rodders did a video while riding in a golf cart and caught me taking a photo of a see through thermostat housing on a purple Dodge bodied T bucket around the 25 second mark. Another look at the event from a different prospective. https://www.facebook.com/bill.wallac...81243962379996

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
I missed this one & really wanted to be there. Unfortunately the truck had other ideas.
The left rear brake started locking up so today I will tear it apart and get it fixed.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
It is turning into a nice show. Not a lot of spectators except for folks who are really interested and a pretty decent spot to have it. Plus some interesting trucks and cars in the mix that I haven't seen before.

Re: Trucks at the Yakima Elks car show 6-1-24
I cannot for the life of me figure out why these guys put thousands of dollars in their paint. thousands of dollars in their LS engine. put hundreds of hours in their build. and put on a generic warm air intake. they call it cold but it is really a warm air intake. under the hood exposed. will never bring in ambient air. it will be way hotter than the engine really wants. Find any modern LS car or truck intake pulling air directly from engine bay. Just never makes sense.
but hey someone thinks they look cool and it is THEIR truck to do whatever THEY want. All i know is we did that in the short term to figure out where to run everything. LS ran ok no major issues. But once I build that filter box and let the intake pull air in from grill (not behind radiator) clean air and ambient. that LS ran a whole lot better. Those trucks have some really good paint schemes and I always like it when they put pride in their builds. And how they stuffed all the blower and ls in this sedan just amazes me. that took some thinking. |
