New GM 1500s - towing
So I like to peruse the new trucks on occasion to see what I might be in the market for in 3 to 5 years (when they are 3-5 years old).
1. What’s your experience with the turbomax 2.7L 4-cyl? 2. What’s the trailer rating for a crew cab std bed? I can’t seem to find it on the chevy site. Usually they have that listed too. I typically own 2500’s, considering going to a 1500 next so the ride is a little better but I’m a little suspect on their capabilities to tow a car trailer. “Built” a custom trail boss on the chevy site, this tells me this pickup is not intended for towing at all!?!?

Re: New GM 1500s - towing
I'd be less interested in how well it can tow than in how long it will survive. It seems all of the manufacturers are having problems with their small turbocharged truck engines. I'll stick with V8 engines for towing.
*Note: This is just my opinion. I was wrong at least once before.

Re: New GM 1500s - towing
Buddy of mine has a 24 1500 Silverado with the turbo diesel. He likes it a lot. Pulls a 18 foot travel trailer with no issues.
But if I was going to pull a trailer and wanted a gas Silverado I would get one with the 6.2/10 speed combo. |

Re: New GM 1500s - towing
I work with a guy that has a at4 with the 3.0 dmax.. it's a pulling machine..another guy at work has a f250 that broke down, they loaded it on a 18ft trailer and it was almost like it wasn't back there..
I saw another at4 on the highway with a pallet of sod in the back, it wasn't squatting hardly any.. I was impressed.. Only real weight I've had behind my 23 1500 w/5.3 was a Toyota tundra on 16ft trailer...handled it just fine A turbo4 would really have to prove itself to me..for now I'll stick to v8 power

Re: New GM 1500s - towing
My 98 is rated 7500lbs with a 3.42 rear axle. So seems the new trucks are meant for towing just the same as they always have been.
That being said, your insane to consider a 4 cylinder full size truck. Literally insane.

Re: New GM 1500s - towing
13,300 lbs is the max tow rating for the 1500 with the diesel, max trailering package, and 20" wheels.
https://www.chevrolet.com/truck-life...d-towing-guide Use that link and it has a PDF of all towing capabilities for the 24 1500.
