OER vs Dynacorn Windshield Trim

I was polishing my windshield trim, prepping for install, and the wheel grabbed my left side piece bending it all to heck. I really know better. Searching available parts...Looks like OER is back ordered most places. I am not a fan of OER parts. Most everything branded OER I've purchased has gone back for fitment issues. Dynacorn site says it is OEM, but I've never ordered from them. Can I get input from those who have used Dynacorn?

The aftermarket windshield trim is garbage at best, does not fit. You are better off to find another original piece sorry

I see posts that say install was a nightmare and I see post that say it went right in no problem. The common factor for an easy install seems to center around use of lube. I don't see much about the trim causing issue. I posted a WTB on the parts board. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will have an OEM piece collecting dust they want to let go.

You have any details or links to the "use of lube" comment? Is that with respect to the glass/gasket or the trim?

Gonna be replacing glass with trim in less than a week.

Lube is not for the trim. Once it's in the weatherstrip it's fine.

I bought the Precision water based lube to use between the gasket and the windshield and then just squirt water on the truck to lubricate the truck to gasket side.

Correct. I suspect it may also assist some in getting the trim fully seated prior to roping in the assembly to the truck. I've never installed a windshield. I talked with a tint shop a while back. They said leave front and rear glass out, and vent window handles off. They will install the windows after they lay on the film. 500 for everything and said they had lots of these old trucks under their belt.. Seemed fair price.

For comparison to your number... I was quoted $434 today for glass install. They're providing gasket (Precision) and glass and reusing my trim. It's a mobile service recommended by a speed shop I trust. Job will get done next Tuesday. This is 100 buck more than I paid last time when I supplied the gasket.

Thanks for comparison Kevin. I will provide Persision gaskets, trim and glass. They will provide very light tint film and instalation. There are probably lower price shops but I got the feeling these guys had the process down and were not afraid of a newly painted old vehicle.

I used the generic brand of KY, on the cab opening, and in the windshield slot in the gasket. Definitely nowhere close to the trim..

KY is water based, so it will just dry up where petroleum based lubricants would kinda mess with the paint. It won't get all over the dash like a spray either..

Worked like a charm.

QTips help a lot to get the KY stuff into the windshield slot in the gasket. I used a Precision gasket and aftermarket trim and wouldn't hesitate to try it again. Just my .02.

I have some extra stainless trim for a windshield. PM with details of what you need. Ironic that I am also polishing trim for my windshield install on the 24th.
