Re: Sideways Saturday

Holy cow you guys, I had to dig way back in the archives to find this thread.
Wasn't sure if I should post this picture here or in the " Let's see your truck hauling" thread, but that thing is probably 62 pages back.
Anyway I made it on time at whatever time zone this is so I'm good.
ETA: Took the garbage load to the dump and afterwards the truck weighed 4030 pounds.
That means if me and my walrus blubber waistline would have stepped out of the cab, the truck would weigh approximately 3800.
Not bad and the bed does have a wooden floor.
When I left the dump and turned onto the highway I punched it and it barked second!
It has a 3:08 rear so I was impressed with that engine yesterday.

My SPID tells me my '71 GMC Jimmy was also released with RPO 522 Medium Bronze. The PO had it repainted a metallic ''Maui Blue'' which is a GM color but not necessarily from this era, or the Truck Division. [No clue where they got Maui Blue, really.] The Jimmy also has an SM465 and Posi rear called out in the SPID, but no Vacuum gauge, Tilt or Manual Throttle. Mine originally had A/C but it wasn't working when I bought it.

I kid Patrick by calling his '68 Orange Stepside, the ''Raccoon''.

Meanwhile I have to brave the 83* Tucson heat and take my '68 Orange Stepside out to fill it up at Fry's Supermarket. Regular is $2.76/Gallon. With my VIP card and 1028 gas points from November, I get a dollar off. So $1.76/Gallon. Must be the Eighties.
Happy Solstice!
