AC fresh air door actuator

Everyone seems to be selling the fresh air actuator for the ridiculous price of $50 which seems totally insane.

Anyone had any luck finding a substitute off of another vehicle? There are so many that look like they would work for $10-$20 on amazon and other sites.

I saw the $50 one. I'll also wait to see if something less expensive shows up.

Thumbs up Re: AC fresh air door actuator

I did away with mine many, many years ago and closed off the cowl area so air can't come in it. It was one of the best mods I have done to my truck for the AC system. My truck run 38* just on low. That with 134-A in the system also.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Following along here, I've wondered about this before as well. In your mod, what/where exactly did you close off. I always get confused with all the doors, baffles, etc. Thanks.

The flapper out under the cowl vents that has the arm by the AC box. I sealed it off and I leave the manual cab vent on the passenger side inside the cab open which in turn lets the air circulate inside the cab keep it cooled down.
I read a thread on this many years ago on this forum about doing it.

Re: AC fresh air door actuator

I just bought one from Classic Parts. I didn't like spending $50 for something like this, but couldn't find anything else that would work. Possibly a cruise control diaphragm might be modified, but I didn't have anything to work with. I installed the one I bought and it worked and fit well enough.

Andy, What did you seal the vent with? Do you have pics?
