A couple of friends use the VA for their medical. I've been to the VA a couple of times back in the '80s. The service was OK. I have a good HMO so I'm leaving that money for people who really need it. One friend keeps telling me to get my tinnitus checked and get a 10% disability like he has. I would have saved money on my sons' college and university tuitions, but that ship has long since sailed. I did use the GI bill for my first house, and to help me get a 4-year degree. I don't know if I'd want to deal with then on the phone like that. I guess I could turn my wife loose on them. She's like a pit bull.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Had to buy a new battery for my Chevelle . Been a good battery for 13 years but it wouldn’t hold a charge and failed the load test . Bought a regular battery to replace it . Heard nothing good about the new red tops .

Block sanded a 66 Galaxy right front fender. Owner hit a deer on the way to a car show.

Hooked the TV and DVD up in the garage and other than trying to figure out a few details on how it all works, (no owners manual) I'm ready to turn off the lights, sit in the truck eating popcorn and pretend I'm at the drive-in!

Some owner's manuals are available online.
Just search make and model.

Yea I realized I could hide that 2X4 in the middle horizontally behind the TV, it's just there to limit the downward angle of the screen.
Then I realized I could route the power and RCA wires upwards behind the TV and make them disappear so the set looks like it's just floating there on the wall.
Then I realized we're talking about a garage here and I need to haul a bunch of garbage in here to the dump.

Get some idea in my head...

By the way the screen was filthy with finger prints and other stuff from handling and installing, do not attempt to clean the screen with car wash soap containing wax or you'll spend some time trying to remove the smeared wax with liquid dish soap or something.

I'm happy with it now though.

Had to use a stay one night free voucher from Hilton decided to go to Bennington Vt . Didn’t take many pictures during the ride actually didn’t stop much except for gas. But the leaves are just starting to turn . I did enjoy the hot tub and pool though .

I haven't seen either of those, but I recognized him as Colonel Wilson in the movie Monte Walsh.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Some actors are genuinely nice people and others are genuine POS. ( just like real people )
My wife met several on a business trip some years ago at a hotel they were staying at in Fort Smith. Rory Calhoun, anyone remember him? She said he was a super nice man and had a beautiful autograph. David Doyle on the other hand was some kind of jerk! I think they were filming The Blue and the Gray at that time.

Not on my truck, but with my truck.

Cleaned out the garbage from the garage and hauled it all to the dump.

I got some room to tinker around in there now.

Spent a few hours on Tuesday and today block sanding 37 Dodge PU front and rear fenders.
Tomorrow a convertible ride and lunch on the deck somewhere. Going to be 80 degrees and sunny.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Had a large plate of spaghetti, then before I could get back into my recliner I ventured into the spare bedroom.........closet. I began the long put off task of going through all that had accumulated over 32 years in there and started 2, 3 piles of clothes, neither of us remember who some items belonged to.
It will be getting colder before long and some of these items will be put to good use. If we can't wear some of these, some one else can. Then the wife came in and, well, my pile got reduced a bit.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I went and had lunch with my youngest brother today up in Bellingham, an hour and a half north of me. We are both very close to our birthdays, he'll be 55 and Ill be 65. We weren't super close growing up only because of the age difference. I had a couple of kids and was divorced from wife number one before he had a drivers license (back when everyone wanted their license when they turned 16). I gave him a call the other day and said hey lets do lunch and catch up. We went to a place up there on the water and what I figured would be an hour lunch turned in to three hours. It was nice catching up.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Heh, If I'd had a large plate of spaghetti, I'd be comatose before that closet work even started. I remember early in our marriage my wife found this out, and if she was mad at me, she would just fix a casserole. I'd eat dinner and go pass out on the couch. It doesn't do that to me anymore, though.

Elsewise, I went to the Habitat ReStore and bought an antique French Country buffet for $300 after multiple markdowns, as it has been there for a couple of years. I've seen them online for over $6k, but this one needs refinishing, which I can do. Can't buy the new wood for that kind of money, let alone the carving that has been done to it.
