Just an FYI, it's technically a federal law in the states too, for all EV's and Hybrid type EV's since 2020. But doubt it would be enforceable on a retrofit, but then who knows with California. It's typically used at low speeds under 25ish MPH to give a warning to blind people or those just not paying attention on sidewalks, parking lots, etc.

Audible pedestrian alerts in electric vehicles (EVs) are sound generators that warn pedestrians of an oncoming vehicle. These systems are also known as Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems (AVAS)

the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requires all new hybrid and electric vehicles sold in the United States to have an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) installed. This requirement went into effect in September 2020

Hence why I mentioned not being applicable in a retrofit scenario like Greg's.

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

we now join Phase 2 of the truck project already in progress...

Our mission should we choose to accept it, is two fold:
  1. Replace the 9 kWh battery pack with two 12 kWh battery packs
  2. Enable MG1 by locking out the input shaft

Electric Truck Battery Upgrade Prep

below I already removed the first gen Chevy Volt charger and DC-DC converter

nice thing about owning a truck is that it comes with it's own workbench/storage space

That was very thoughtful of you to not hoard the hood props by buying the set!

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

in this video The Greg removes more stuff off of his electrically converted 1969/71 Chevrolet (pronounced: "GMC") pick up truck in order to be able to access the 2010 Lexus GS450h transmotor input shaft

well hopefully this is all that had to be removed...

Maybe something like this would get those sounds for your Canadian buddy?

Not sure what it monitors thru the OBD2 but it might work...
