how to remove 4 speed

i want to replace the clutch, 68 gmc 4x4 i have removed rear drive shaft ,disconnected shift linkage, speed cable, e-brake cable, front drive shaft, hump cover and seat from cab. exhaust pipes are clear. Q should i remove trans and transfer case in one piece or take transfer case off first? i tried to remove transfer case by removing 5 or 6 bolts from it but it seems like something else is holding it together. man i need to get a service manual.

clutch

Whenever I need to replace a clutch on one of my wifes 4x4's, I pull the engine. It easier for me. Maybe if you have a transmission jack, pulling the other stuff would be easier.........Zoomy

you gotta know about the hidden bolts on the Rockwell T221 adapter to get it off
remove the little service plate on the driver side(held on with 2 bolts), and inside there are either 2 or 3 more bolts holding the adapter onto the transfer case. after you get those, it should come right off.
I had the same problem when I was removing mine.
