I was casting my line and letting the bait drift downstream. I could see the bait hitting some of the fish on the nose, but they weren't biting. I got mad and went out on the roots with a net (yes, I know). Every time I got close to the fish, the would go sideways just enough that I couldn't net one. When I moved back from the stream, they went back to where they had been swimming.

IKR? Once I found a good size bass sitting on the shallow bank edge. I dragged a lure passed it on both sides several times with no show of interest. Finally I dragged the lure right across it's back and touched it. It moved sideways a few inches then moved right back. They can be finicky.

Re: Good jokes, lets hear them.

I always fished at area lakes in Dallas/Ft Worth Texas. Back in 86 my first wife and I went up to Silverton, OR to visit her sister and BIL. While there the BIL asked if I liked to fish. Why yes, every chance I get. So, he said "Let's go out and do some trout fishing. I never fished for trout and thought this would be a good memory to have. While I was standing by the bank casting my line and not getting a bite, but I could see them as plain as day. My BIL was hiding behind trees, rocks and anything he could and was catching trout at almost every cast. I laughed at first and thought there was something wrong with him. But he was catching them, and I was not. I finally asked what the heck was he doing and why was I not catching anything. He said that I was used to the stupid fish down south and theirs were way too smart to be that easily fooled. Why would a fish go after the bait when they can see me throwing it to them. So, I decided to try it his way and bam, first cast hooked me trout. I gave up. That was way too much work, and I felt very foolish doing it. So, I went and had a beer while I watched my BIL do the fishing. I will always remember that time.
