Antenna Ground Ring
Hi Fellows,
I am wondering if anyone has run across a similar problem where their antenna has developed a wiggle. My 72 C20 has a fixed mast antenna located in the factory hole (right side of the wiper cowl near the pass door). I removed the cowl and found there's a rectangular soft metal "ground ring" under the sheet metal as part of the mounting bracket. The problem is that my ground ring developed a crack so it cannot keep the antenna mounted rigidly to the cowl. I haven't been able to find this part reproduced separately, so I would need to buy a whole new antenna kit. Has anyone had a similar problem? Was there any way to fix the problem without replacing he entire antenna? thanks. |

Re: Antenna Ground Ring
This is where photos could help a lot. Not only of the inside and the ring but the outside so those in the know can tell if it is a "Genuine GM" factory style antenna or aftermarket.
I haven't had an issue on my 71 and am sure I have the original antenna but on some other rigs have had problems where someone replaced a broken original antenna with an aftermarket antenna that almost fit but almost close enough only counts in horseshoes and hand gernades.

Re: Antenna Ground Ring
Thanks, I'll grab a few photos. I'm almost certain its not the factory antenna, but a period replacement.
