Re: 1968 redo

Shot the remainder of interior today. I ordered an LED clear lens dome light today.

Re: 1968 redo

Those above pics make the interior appear that it does not match. There are some bright LEDs shining in cab. Here is a pic of the glove box. The color in this pic shows better than these.

Re: 1968 redo

Painted the dash bezel today as well. I counted 10 bulbs inside dash panel. Planning to replace those with LED bulbs. The instrument panel glass looks pretty good. There are a few rusty spots on the printed surface of the tins. I am hoping they clean up.
I am waiting on the manifold clamp kit I ordered from 12bolt.com. He has some pretty fast shipping, I expect it here Monday or Tuesday. I well get the manifolds cinched down and torqued, then re-install the monojet carb. I have not been able to locate my breather. Took it off in 1992, the truck has been towed to 3 different locations since then and it got lost somewhere along the way.

Just be real careful cleaning that white painted area of the instruments, that stuff will come right off if you scrub too hard. Use a damped Q-Tip (not overly wet) and clean water, but be careful.

BTW, the interior of the truck came out great!

Re: 1968 redo

It was a frustrating day today. Started off wet sanding some spots on interior all the way down to 5000 then buffing. Satisfied with the outcome so started putting stuff back together. New repop vents went in and they are very difficult to operate. Handle will need to be mounted lower than the stock one, so gonna have to drill a hole. Makes it easier to open/close, but still difficult. Repop dash pad put in and cannot get the lower holes to line up. Put a big scratch to right of radio trying to line up holes pulling down on pad with a screwdriver. I am considering taking my old dash pad to the seat shop and having them re- cover it. I’m very irritated with these parts not working right. I know that’s a problem with reproduced stuff.

My passenger side vent was the same, I ended up using parts off the old vent to get it to work decently, but it still isn't how I want it. I just liked the old knobs/grab handles that were original to the truck better than the repops. I think I will modify the actuating rod that connects to the vent door to get the results I want. Once I do that, I will post on my build blog.

Re: 1968 redo

Moved the bracket down a bit and it works better.
